Costumer's Beautiful Jar Display

Check out these gorgeous pics sent in by customer Sherry Hunt. Sherry purchased these jars at last year's Believe Boutique. Sherry had been looking for a way to display her amazing and rare collection of African trade beads and in her own words, "these fit the bill."  I think you will agree that they do indeed.

To lid or not to lid

Occasionally, a unique bowl comes along that is so ornate and exquisite, it is the opinion of this crafter that putting a lid on it would be a disservice to its individuality. Therefore, you will sometimes see items for sale in the slide show that do not have any lids. While they look technically more like a candy dish than an apothecary jar, they are too cute not to include in the inventory. Here are a few of our lidless items we'd like to showcase.

The Late Night Misadventures of Apothecary Liz

It was around 11PM on a hot Arizona summer night in July when I decided to clean and sterilize a few of my "finds" from a recent trip to a thrift shop. I was looking forward to creating a beautiful apothecary jar with the wide candlestick and large glass bowl before me. So on went the hot water as I began the process of de-stickering and sterilizing, something I'd done hundreds of times in my trusty kitchen sink. I had just finished soaping the inside and started to lift the bowl to work on the outside sticker. For reasons I'll leave to more scientific minds than mine, the glass suddenly decided it no longer wanted to cohese* in one piece.  
 *I know it’s not a word but hey, that phrase sounded cool

Candy Buffet

Most Apothecary Jars by Liz feature unique metallic-finished lids. But without the lids, they are still a charming display option for your favorite items. Here is a collection of jars that were used for my daughter's baby shower. We put an assorment of candies and goodies in them, and left the lids off to make treat removal that much more convenient. See for yourself how it turned out. Candies never seemed more appealing!

What are apothecary jars?

Centuries ago, apothecaries were the drugstores of the world. Counter space was at a premium, so it was common for store owners to use large glass jars to get things up and out of the way, all while protecting them in a sealed container and offering a great display method for customers to see their wares.

Today, you won't see apothecary jars at your local pharmacy, but you will see them in homes on kitchen tables, bathroom counters, fireplace mantels, and just about anywhere else in need of some versatile decor. This latest trend in home furnishings allows users to store and display whatever they want, from cottonballs to dinner mints, citrus collections to christmas ornaments.
